All About CMLR

The Centre of Maritime Law and Research, known as CMLR, was instituted by the Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, under the auspices of the Directorate General of Shipping, functioning under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. The primary objective of the center is to advance research in maritime law, conduct policy analysis, and provide industry insights on a broad scale. Moreover, the collaboration between CMLR and the Directorate General of Shipping has been extended for an additional five years, underscoring our steadfast commitment to the fields of Maritime Law and International Trade Law. This three-way partnership, integral to the establishment of CMLR, fosters camaraderie among students, academicians, and legal practitioners within the realms of international trade law and international investment law, positioning us as a crucial entity in the domain of Maritime Law. The Centre aspires to set a benchmark for maritime law research in India, while also catering to the needs and aspirations of the global maritime law community. In line with this vision, the centre’s extensive research work, training programs, conferences, workshops, and seminars solidify our standing as a significant stakeholder in the maritime discourse.
